A commercial DVD movie not being recognized is usually cuased by the following reasons:

1) The DVD Region on the drive has not been selected. To select the DVD region in Windows XP or Vista, open Device Manager and bring up the properties for the PX-850SA. You will see a DVD Region tab where you can select your country of residence.

2) You do not have a proper DVD decoder installed. Windows XP does not come with a DVD decoder by default, a third party decoder will need to be installed. Common software titles include Cyberlink's PowerDVD and Corel's WinDVD.

3) The firmware for your drive needs to be updated. Updating the firmware will add alternative read and write methods so that a wider range of discs will be recognized.
